You don’t need me to tell you that the cost of weddings is rising. It currently stands at a whopping £27,000 and it doesn’t sound like it’s going to get cheaper any time soon. With that in mind, so many wedding couples are now looking at how they can create their perfect day without spoiling the funds for their future.
Read on and you’ll find ways you can keep your wedding budget low without compromising on your dreams.
The Food
Any newlywed will tell you that the food on their big day was a large chunk of their budget. Many wedding menu’s coincide with what their chosen venue allows, as they don’t allow outside catering – this allows them to make a bigger profit.
If your venue allows outside catering or your venue isn’t at a traditional wedding setting then you have the luxury of different options. The hire of a hog roast machine instead of traditional sit down meal would considerably lower your costs.
If your wedding list isn’t bloated then you could even consider doing the catering yourself. Or speak to the owner of a local restaurant or pub and see if they could help you with some elements of your food like the starters or mains and then you could take on the dessert side of things.
Or simply have a finger or fork buffet to create a more relaxed style of wedding.
The Flowers
Flowers are another huge expense that all brides must consider. With your flowers it’s important to take a step back and consider what you really need. Are large blooms at the end of each church pew a necessity? Could each table at the reception forgo a large unique display? Try to choose flowers that will be in season when you’re getting married, as important flowers that are out of season will add a considerable amount to your fee.
If you’re really hoping to save money on your flowers then consider using fake flowers instead. Fake blooms are a much better quality then they used to be and what makes them even better is that you can keep them afterwards!
Forget the Gifts
By gifts we mean the traditional gifts the bride and groom give to the bridesmaids and the groomsmen on the big day. It’s just another expense! And if you’re looking to save money on your wedding, then any good bridesmaid or groomsman will understand.
Your Decorations
You might have a large venue to decorate but it’s difficult to know where to begin. Forget hiring someone who can drape silk sheets from the ceiling and hang fairy lights here and there, you’re totally capable of doing this yourself!
You can make decorations yourself or head to a discount shop or craft store and see what you can pick up. Get your friends and family involved and the job will be done in half the time. No expensive consultations, no sky high prices – just exactly what you want and where you want it.
