Make Yourself a Coffee
First things first: drop your bags and make yourself a nice coffee while you plan out the rest of your holiday. Moon Shadow has got a fancy Nespresso machine in the kitchen and plenty of pods for you to enjoy a nice crema coffee each morning when you wake up. On top of that, the cottage also has a pretty well-stocked kitchen for making meals in and if you book through Beachspoke, you may also find a complimentary bottle of fizz in the fridge, too. Bucks Fizz, anyone?
Turn on the Fire
Ok, this one may sound a little strange, especially if you’re visiting during the height of summer, but hear me out. Underneath the flat-screen TV is a separate screen which projects a series of digital images of a fireplace, a fish tank and a woodland scene. You may remember we had one of these in our room at the Motel One in Manchester and it immediately makes any room more inviting and cosy. You can choose what kind of fireplace you want (there’s differing ‘crackles’ and flames, depending on your preference). Just trust me on this one and try it; you’ll end up wanting one for your own house in no time.
Have a Nice Hot Shower
The interior of Moon Shadow has a beachy theme, albeit a very funky, modern one. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the bathroom, which has a large open-plan rainfall shower, chunky stone basin and rustic wooden shelves. It honestly looks like a bathroom you would find in a luxury hotel; perfect for a long, hot shower to wash all the sand and seawater (and hopefully not seagull poop…) out of your hair.
Lounge on the Comfy Couch in Your Robe
To go along with the top-class bathroom there are snuggly towelling robes to lounge around in. And when you’re wearing one of those bad boys and sitting on the fur throw on the couch, it’s pretty hard not to have a snooze. But you’re on holiday, so just do it.
Take Advantage of the Great Location
One of the best, if not the best, thing about Moon Shadow St Ives is its location. You are literally right around the corner from Porthmeor Beach, which is one of the nicest beaches in town. If the weather’s nice, you can pack some beach towels, drinks and sun cream and walk the few steps to the beach each day. This beach is also a fabulous spot to watch the sunset and even has its own popular beachside café (open all day, but reservations are recommended).
