Reading: Daughter by Jane Shemilt. A tale about a suspicious abduction of a teenage girl and how one mother actually doesn’t really know anything about her family at all. I’m enjoying it, but have a sneaky suspicion that I may be a little disappointed with the ending.
Watching: All of my favourite winter TV shows (i.e. Homeland and Downton Abbey). I’m going to be sad to say goodbye to Downton Abbey when it finishes this year, even though I’ve only been watching it since 2013.
Eating: Plenty of Dutch holiday food. Saint Nicholas comes to the Netherlands this weekend (holy cow – just writing that makes me realise how quickly this year has gone!) and with his arrival comes lots of seasonal goodies in the supermarkets. I love kruidnoten (a bit like little pieces of gingerbread) and even got in my first oliebollen this week.
Wearing: These owl slipper socks from New Look. If I could live life in pyjamas and slippers, I would. These are even better because owls. And Christmas.
Feeling: Excited for Christmas (see above point). Yes, yes, I know most people shudder at the thought of festivity in November, but I am most certainly not one of those people. And now that the John Lewis advert has been aired, there’s really no excuse to shy away from it. Get in the spirit, humbugs!
Buying: Flights back to the UK for the holidays. I’ve only seen my parents for a total of three days this year, so I’m excited to spend some quality time with them at Christmas, as well as my two adorable nieces.
Listening To: The Undisclosed podcast. It’s been filling the hole left by Serial ever since it launched. I’m a few episodes behind because I only listen to it while I’m at the gym, but I’m enjoying hearing more details about the case, even if it does make me slightly lose my faith in the justice system at times. Have you been listening? What the heck do you think actually happened? The whole case seems to get more and more confusing with every new piece of evidence that you hear.
