There are certain items in my makeup bag that I take with me everywhere, whether I’m at home or abroad. If I use something a lot, then chances are I don’t want to buy a product from a high-end brand, because it’s going to be too expensive to keep replacing. This is particularly true when you’re travelling, as you may need to replace a certain item of makeup abroad and not be able to find the brand you like. That leaves you buying something that you’re unsure of, both in colour and quality.
Another reason that I like to have certain high street (and therefore slightly cheaper) brands in my makeup bag is because I’m not as devastated should anything happen to them. You’ll know what I mean if you’ve ever dropped a £30 blusher that you’d splurged on, only to see it crack into a million pieces. When I was travelling, my makeup bag was subjected to many different temperatures (which actually affected my makeup more than I thought it would, especially in the case of mascara and foundation drying out) and was at the mercy of many baggage handlers.
With this in mind, I thought I’d put together a quick list of some of my high street makeup essentials. These are products that I’ve used , loved and can highly recommend, but they also don’t cost the earth. So whether you’re looking for one or two items to spruce up your current collection, or you want some tips on some affordable makeup to take on your travels, I hope this can help!
