I’m the worst kind of blogger because I never carry my camera with me. Unless I’m going somewhere that I know is going to be specifically “photo worthy” or it’s a special event, I’m usually only armed with my phone camera (which, considering my phone is now four years old, is basic at best). This tends to mean that, although I want to write about a certain place or experience, I usually don’t have good enough photos to back up the words.
So when we decided to head to the Amsterdam Vondelpark for a few afternoon drinks last week, I made a conscious decision to take my camera with me. I need to start capturing some of this wonderful city that I now call home.
The Vondelpark is practically our back yard now, as we live less than five minutes’ walk from it. We’ll often cut through it on our way into the centre of the city, or go there when we want to exercise or walk the dog. But we had yet to pack a blanket and some drinks and actually sit and enjoy the park for what it is: a relaxing people-watcher’s paradise.
So we packed up our newly-purchased woolen blanket, some Belgian wheat beers and the dog, and headed off for some late afternoon sun.
