When I think back to some of the bad nights of sleep I’ve had over the last couple of years, it’s enough to give me nightmares.
I mean, there have truly been some doozies that prevented me from snoozing. There were the loud and crazy winged beasts we nicknamed “monkey birds” that followed us around in Asia. Then there were the rooms in Europe that always seemed to have buzzing neon signs or bright street lights right outside our window. And of course who can forget the overnight flights and buses where we were packed in like sardines. Yep, turbulence, loud neighbors, barking street vendors, I have tried to sleep through it all.
While all of the above may have gotten in the way of a good night sleep for me, it’s pretty much nothing compared to what Aaron Chervenak had to go through on Devil’s Mountain during the Ibis Expedition. You see, Aaron decided to haul a Sweet Bed by ibisTM to the top of a cursed, exposed-to-the-elements Amazonian mountain to see if you he could get a good night’s sleep there.
Yes, you read that right. A cursed mountain.
Now I can tell you from personal experience, that the beds in ibis hotels are very, very comfortable and Scott and I both loved the stylish décor at their locations all throughout Europe this past December (we stayed in several of their locations during our Christmas Market Crawl). But taking one of their beds to the top of cursed mountain? Not sure about that one, Aaron. Luckily, we don‘t have to, because we can just check out the video of his adventure here, but I’ll warn you, it’s not for the faint of heart, or a light sleeper.
Apparently you can now order this bed from ibis online, because they are so sure that you will get a good night’s sleep in them that you’ll want one for yourself. I’m not sure how easily it would fit in a backpack, but when I finally get my own house again, I’ll definitely be looking at getting one.
