Is it just me or has traveling by caravan become more and more popular in recent years? I’m not exactly sure what took so long for people to catch on to how fun it is to pack things up in your vehicle and hit the open road in search of adventure, but I’m sure glad it has caught on. Once we get settled eventually, we will definitely be taking a caravan road trip around the sunny southern part of the United Kingdom, and I already have an idea of a few places I want to go. Ok, make sure to close the door all the way and put on your seatbelt before reading.
Devon
Devon is without a doubt one of the best places for caravan holidays in the UK. I mean, just imagine for a second driving over a hill in your caravan to catch a view of the Devon coastline and then realizing that you literally will be staying “on the coast” tonight, as in right next to it in a caravan park. In addition to the coastline blowing you away in Devon, there is of course the time honored tradition of enjoying a Devon cream tea, which is one of my favorite types of traditions: a tasty one. Scones, clotted cream, jam, and tea are just the fuel you’ll need to drive on to your next destination.
Hampshire
Home to major cities Southhampton, Portsmouth, and England‘s first capital Winchester, Hampshire is a coastal county famous for being close to the sea and being the birthplace of the Royal Navy. In addition to activities by the sea, the New Forest is a place that is a perfect spot to do some hiking. Hampshire can be summed up as a place where stunning countryside meets the sea with a bit of history thrown in for good measure, and that is a perfect combination for a holiday.
Sussex
Home to the Seven Sisters, which is possibly one of the most iconic images on the entire island of Great Britian, Sussex is with a doubt a place we will be visiting on our caravan trip. The Seven Sisters are a breathtaking set of chalk cliffs on English Channel, and many caravan parks aren‘t located too far from them. They within Seven Sisters Country Park, which was set aside to preserve the Sisters. The Sisters are the result of thousands of years of natural effects of erosion by the sea of the chalky and dry ground of Sussex.
Essex
Located to the east of London, I am determined to discover a different side of Essex than the one you see on television, and staying at a caravan park will be a step in the right direction for sure. Many of the caravan parks there have a peaceful countryside setting but are still within easy reach of both Colchester with it’s fantastic shopping and the popular coastal resorts on the Essex Coast.
