This week I have been mainly bemoaning the number of hills and steps in Istanbul, like an old lady. They play havoc with my knees, you know?
Anyway, when I haven’t been doing that or drinking tea (who knew that they love tea in Istanbul even more than they do in England?), I’ve been reading some good stuff on the interwebs.
Why Generation Y Yuppies Are Unhappy – I found this article on the HuffPost blog really interesting. I’m not saying I agree with it all, but I do think there are some valid points here about different generations and their views on the world
My Doberman Is The Most Eligible Bachelor In England – I love dogs of all shapes and sizes and can’t wait to have a dog again (luckily I have one on hand in the form of Scott’s Basset Hound to which I am now stepmother), so I loved this look into the life of Sam.
Russell Brand and the GQ awards: ‘It’s amazing how absurd it seems’ – Say what you want about Russell Brand and his lifestyle choices, but I’ve never found a celebrity so eloquent and with such a great writing style. His descriptions of insider celebrity life explain a bit about what we all assume goes on, but never really know.
Meeting My Family – I can totally relate to this post of Brendan’s as I became an Auntie while travelling last year and it was one of the hardest moments knowing that my sister wanted me there and that I wouldn’t see my niece for several months.
Ridiculous Wait Times Killing the US Tourist Industry – Short but sweet, this article sums up my experiences with US customs lines, particularly when I flew to the US on New Year’s Day this year and almost missed my flight due to the long queues – and that was at US customs in the UK! Saying that, having just flown back to England a couple of weeks ago, I encountered one of the worst EU passport lines in my home city I’ve ever seen. I had to queue for a good half an hour just for someone to look at my passport and hand it back to me, while Scott just sailed through his international line. I guess we’re all as bad as each other.
I love this photo of Austin, Texas and can’t wait to get there someday soon to eat all of the yummy food I’ve heard so much about and I love this outfit to wear during autumn (even though no-one in their right mind would wear those shoes during the day).
That’s all – have a great weekend you lovely people!
