Before you all get too excited, I didn’t get married in Vegas. This is in fact written by my friend Sujata, explaining the different aspects to consider when planning your nuptials in Sin City. As you all know, I adore Las Vegas, so you have my full blessing (do you see what I did there?) to go ahead and get hitched in the city.
Many people think of a Las Vegas wedding, they often imagine a process that is rather quick and does not involve a lot of planning. Certainly, you can have a nuptial ceremony that is in this style, but some couples want to put a little more planning into it.
Choosing a Licensed Chapel and Officiant
When you are going to get married, you might not even think about whether or not the officiant and chapel are licensed to marry you; however, this is a major concern. While you are booking flights to Las Vegas, you should also be conducting research on the place at which you are planning to marry. This is why just randomly selecting a spot off the street can be a bit of a risk. You might think you are legally married only to find out later on that this is not the case.
Considering Religious Obligations
Some people are not 100 percent clear on the rules of their religion, and this might cause them some troubles later on. For example, you might think that just because you are getting married in a chapel, you are having a ceremony in-line with your religious traditions. However, let’s say that you are Roman Catholic. If both people getting married are Roman Catholic, you are able to have a Roman Catholic wedding only in a Roman Catholic Church. Be sure you understand all of the rules if a ceremony in your faith is something of importance to you.
Planning The Perfect Time
Fortunately for you, Las Vegas is a place that has warm and sunny weather for the majority of the year. Remember, however, many of your guests are going to have to go on holiday and book flights to Las Vegas to get to your wedding. Consider the weather conditions in the place where most of them are coming from. Otherwise, you could end up with a large amount of guests who are unable to get there due to adverse weather conditions. Take any major holidays that your guests celebrate into account as well.
Saving Money on Your Wedding
Many people choose to have a Las Vegas wedding because they do not want to spend a ton of money on a huge celebration. Still though, since this is such a popular place to get married, you could end up spending more money than you would like too. Since you are going on holiday, you are probably staying in one of the lovely hotels in the area. Look into packages and deals that your hotel offers. You may be able to find a hotel that has a reciprocal agreement with a chapel, and you can save some money.
Don’t Feel You Must Follow a Pattern
Las Vegas weddings are well-known throughout the world, and most people envision a quick little ceremony at one of the famous chapels. Remembering that you can still have a traditional wedding here is important. You could still opt for a wedding in a church, on the beach or in a hotel when you are in Las Vegas. Even though you love the feel of Las Vegas, you might not necessarily want to have the typical wedding. Las Vegas is just a place, and you can host any time of wedding that you want when you are looking for a celebration here.
Getting married in Las Vegas is certainly going to be a lot of fun. Just keep in mind; you can still have both a ceremony and a reception that are a reflection of the two of you as a couple. Don’t feel that you must fit into pre-determined moulds.
