I only spent a small amount of time in the pretty city of Ljubljana last year, but it was definitely one of the most intriguing places I visited.
Why? Because on every street there seemed to be examples of unique art and traditions, not to mention the pastel-coloured churches and weeping willows hanging over the river. It was attractive in every sense of the word.
Apparently there are at least two streets in the city where shoes have been thrown over telephone wires like this and it seems unclear why or how the tradition started, but seeing it just adds to the quirkiness of the Slovenian city. In Ljubljana you never seem to ask why, but more that you just admire it for what it is: quirky and fun. And that seems like a great attitude to have just about anywhere in the world.
