Micheladas are very much like Bloody Marys; you either love them or you hate them.
They’re very popular in Mexico, where they’re drunk almost daily by locals as a refreshing and spicy alternative to just plain beer.
Made in much the same way as a Bloody Mary, Micheladas sometimes use tomato or clamato juice as a base; other times it can simply be just lime juice and spices.
Be aware that Micheladas can sometimes be called by different names – in some parts of Mexico they are simply called Cheladas (although this can also just mean beer with lime juice and sugar syrup) or Cielo Rojo. It’s a bit confusing, but as long as you like beer, lime juice and/or spices, you’ll be guaranteed a refreshing drink no matter what turns up at your table!
