“Nothing in her life had prepared her for what she had done; nothing had suggested she might even be capable of it. And yet, from the moment she had climbed aboard the aircraft, for all her fear, she had felt curiously elated, as if this might be it: this might be the business of living.” – Jojo Moyes
Long term travel is definitely a rollercoaster.
Of emotions good and bad, of places loved and disliked, of comfortable beds and wooden mattresses All the time you’re constantly asking yourself: “Am I doing the right thing? Am I going to the right places? Is this all that I expected?”
And then there suddenly comes a moment when you realise.
You could be simply sat on a bus, admiring the passing scenery, or sat on a beach or in a coffee shop, and you realise that you’re the happiest that you’ve ever been.
And in that moment you know.
You know that there is no greener grass on the other side. The alternative is in no way as good as what you’re experiencing.
You’re stood in the greenest grass there is.
