I’ve eaten a lot this past year. A LOT.
Some of it has been the most deliciously mouth-watering cuisine I’ve ever had the good grace to put in my mouth, and some of it has been just plain awful. Yes, I’m looking at you, mushroom pizza in Belgrade. Because I didn’t start the food side of my blog until around four months into my travels last year, there were plenty of great dishes that never got talked about, so I thought I’d compile some of the best food moments from 2012. *plays Oscars-style awards music*
Breakfast / Brunch
From delicious eggs and some of the best coffee I’ve ever drunk in New Zealand, to freshly baked burek and yogurt in Bosnia, I’ve had some truly wonderful starts to the day.

Burgers
I think it would be fair to say that I consumed more burgers in 2012 than any other year of my life previously (or perhaps all of them combined!!). Particularly in New Zealand, where they take their burgers VERY seriously.
But there were also a few surprises in Asia and the Netherlands, where I managed to find some damn good meat patties.

Pizza
If I consumed far too many burgers last year, then the same can definitely also be said for pizza.
In my defense, it’s pretty much the only thing you can eat cheaply in many of the Balkan States, and is pretty damn tasty. Then there were the pizza cravings in Malaysia and the quick jaunt to Italy which expanded my waistline…..you get the picture.

Asian Food
There was just so much good Asian food in 2012. More than it is even possible to list here. But here are just some of the highlights.
