I didn’t blog at all about my time in Dunedin. Or of New Zealand much in general really, considering how much I saw there, which is a real shame. But at the time I was so wrapped up in the excitement of the beginning of my trip that I was trying to soak it all in.
I actually spent over a week in Dunedin while in the South Island, which was the longest I spent anywhere in New Zealand and the longest I’d spent anywhere on the trip at that time. Mainly because I loved the university city’s cool vibe, restaurants and bars and mainly because I think I needed a bit of a rest from the constant packing up and moving on I had been doing in the weeks previously. I used to love waking up to this view of the Cathedral Church of St Joseph every morning.
Dunedin will also always hold a special place in my heart as it was where I found out that my niece had been born, from halfway around the world.
